[June 24, 2003, Hong Kong] The announcement of being removed from WHOˇ¦s list of SARS ˇV infected areas was music to our ears and so was the news of ˇ§ Jose Feliciano : Hello to Hong Kongˇ¨ concert. ˇ§The greatest living guitaristˇ¨ ˇV Jose Feliciano, world renowned singer, is the first foreign performer to hold concert in Hong Kong on August 9 after SARS outbreak.
Jose Feliciano with his 10-people band will perform on August 9 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Born blind, Jose plays not only guitar, but also bass, banjo, keyboards, timbales, mandolin and harmonica. He is the one and the only one ˇV Six Time Grammy Award Winner and is in receipt of numerous awards such as from the famous US magazine: ˇ§Guitar Playerˇ¨, he was named as ˇ§The best guitar playerˇ¨ for several times.
Jose reached worldwide popularity with his obsessive flamenco-flavored versions of pop hits such as ˇ§Light My Fireˇ¨. Other Joseˇ¦s golden songs include ˇ§California Dreamingˇ¨, ˇ§Rainˇ¨, ˇ§Angelaˇ¨, ˇ§And the Sun Will Shineˇ¨ and ˇ§Old Turkey Buzzardˇ¨. Besides composting songs like ˇ§Rain,ˇ¨ he also performed other famous golden songs such as The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Richard Marx and The Rolling Stone, and received favourable credits. Up till now, Jose has recorded over 65 albums, and is still active in the music community.
