Converged wired/wireless solution will enable launch of new value-added cloud services to enhance mobility and provide better customer service

Hong Kong, 4 July 2012 ¡V To improve customer service while gearing up for future business expansion, Fuji Xerox Taiwan, a leading provider of multifunction printing and document management solutions, relocated its Taipei headquarters in January 2012. As part of its relocation plans, the company wanted to redesign its network infrastructure to build a more secure and highly available architecture that will enable better services for its enterprise mobile users. It was also keen to build an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient "Green Office" as its new headquarters.

Fuji Xerox Taiwan supplies multifunction printers to enterprises and provides on-demand printing services at over 5,000 convenience stores in Taiwan. With such wide geographical coverage, the company wanted to build a network infrastructure that was reliable, easy to maintain and scalable with the business.

Recognising the importance of enterprise mobility, Fuji Xerox appointed Dimension Data to help design a new Cisco-based network infrastructure to meet the demands of its increasingly mobile workforce. The new solution will allow employees to access internal systems remotely to improve employee agility and productivity. It also needs to be able to support Fuji Xerox Taiwan's existing large workforce, including technical functions and the growing number of internal mobile users in future.

"Our existing network infrastructure was not going to be able to support a rapidly expanding mobile workforce that demands seamless, reliable and fast network connectivity," said Gene Wu, Deputy Senior Vice President, Fuji Xerox Taiwan. "We needed to overhaul our network infrastructure to cope with business growth and customer demands for a better, faster service. It was just as important for us to work with a partner that had a proven track record of delivering complex wired/wireless solutions, and skills in managing projects that place priority on performance, security and availability."

After carefully reviewing proposals from several vendors, Fuji Xerox chose to partner with Dimension Data Taiwan.

Following an in-depth review of Fuji Xerox's business requirements and factoring in future business expansion, Dimension Data proposed a new network infrastructure based around the 10GE Cisco Catalyst 6509 core switch. Enhanced wireless access will be provided using the Cisco Access Point controller, while security will be administered using the Web Application Firewall solution that comes built-in with the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE). The Cisco NAC appliance would provide identity management. Overseeing the implementation will be Dimension Data's professional services organisation that will provide consulting and managed services, including engineering and staging, cabling and Uptime maintenance services.

"Dimension Data has been designing and managing complex network infrastructure for several decades," said Frank Liao, General Manager, Dimension Data Taiwan. "Our approach towards delivering any solution begins with a dialogue with the client's stakeholders. We recognise that only by carefully listening to their challenges and goals can we identify the appropriate technologies that we can bring together to solve the problems at hand. Over the years, we've developed a solid reputation in providing solutions that address current business needs and challenges, and can also cope with future business expansion plans."

Moving forward, Fuji Xerox Taiwan plans to continue to seek innovative approaches to improving customer services and productivity. It plans to integrate some third party technologies to provide value-added services through cloud computing.

"Having proven their mettle in handling the complex requirements of our business, we believe Dimension Data will continue to play a strategic role in helping us achieve our cloud vision," said Wu.
