IT Compliance and Foundational Enterprise Security Specialisations reward partners' investment in Symantec solutions

Hong Kong, 28 July 2010 ¡V Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the availability of two new Specialisations for partners in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). The new IT Compliance and Foundational Enterprise Security Specialisations provide qualified partners with exclusive benefits designed to help increase their competitive advantage, improve recognition by customers and drive more revenue. These new Specialisations will provide qualified partners greater access to Symantec sales and technical resources to help them accelerate the sales cycle, as well as financial incentives designed to accelerate profitability. Additional guidelines and requirements can be found at the Asia Pacific Specialisations webpage.

"Symantec's goal is to provide our partners with increased opportunities to be profitable with Symantec solutions, differentiate themselves with customers, maximise value and drive customer loyalty," said Michael Chue, Managing Director, Hong Kong and Greater China Region Global Business, Symantec. "These new Specialisations recognise partners who have demonstrated expertise in particular Symantec solutions and will provide resources they need to meet their customers' needs. These additional Specialisations further reinforce Symantec's dedication to enabling partner competence in key solutions areas well before the enhanced Symantec Partner Program comes into effect at the end of 2010."

Partners who achieve Specialisations will also be able to differentiate themselves with designation as a Specialised partner on the Symantec Partner Locator, which enables customers to search and identify companies that can meet their business needs. Symantec's introduction of two new Specialisations in APJ supports the company's increased focus on driving partner competence in key solutions areas and providing partners with additional channel enablement tools designed to help increase their revenue and deliver more value to their customers.

Foundational Enterprise Security Specialisation
The Foundational Enterprise Security Specialisation recognises the expertise of qualified partners that provide Enterprise Security solutions. This Specialisation requires partners to attain sales and technical accreditations, which ensures they are highly competent in selling and deploying Symantec Enterprise Security solutions. With this Specialisation, partners can more effectively deliver solutions that solve their customer's most critical security challenges. The Enterprise Security Specialisation is available now to qualified Symantec Global Strategic, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Silver Corporate Reseller, Registered and Distribution partners.

IT Compliance Specialisation
The IT Compliance Specialisation offers benefits to qualified partners who are skilled in the implementation, measurement, and maintenance of compliance with security configuration standards, and in the definition and enforcement of compliance policies for IT governance and information protection. Symantec partners achieve IT Compliance Specialisation by demonstrating a strong commitment to deliver compliance solutions to enterprise customers, as defined and evaluated by Symantec. The IT Compliance Specialisation has limited availability, and participation is restricted to partners who are well versed in delivering solutions which ensure IT compliance with government regulations.

Differentiating with Symantec Specialisations
Symantec Specialisations, which recognise partners with a proven expertise in a particular area of business, provide partners with the skills and experience required to deliver differentiated service to their customers. Symantec partners achieve Specialisations by meeting certain requirements that deepen their knowledge and proficiency in a solution family and receive exclusive benefits as a result of their investment. Symantec currently offers the following Specialisations in Asia Pacific and Japan: Archiving and eDiscovery, Endpoint Management, Small and Medium Business (SMB), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Foundational Enterprise Security and IT Compliance[1].
