[Hong KongĄE12 March 2010] Under globalization, Hong Kong is moving towards a knowledge-based economy. Such economy atmosphere has generated a rapid development in information and communication technology (ICT). Touch the world via internet is the new lifestyle of the Hong Kong community. However, a considerable number of disadvantaged and deprived people have still been left behind. Sponsored by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, HKSAR, Hong Kong Cyperport Management Company Limited, Information Technology Resource Centre, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Internet Professional Association (iProA) have established District Cyber Centre Alliance. The alliance runs 33 Local Digital Service Centres, sets up "Cyber Community Award Scheme" and " Youth Development Award Scheme" and "DCCA Affiliated Centre Awards". Three listed awards will be presented in the first "District Cyber Centre Alliance Appreciation Ceremony at The Arcade, Cyberport - Ocean View Court on 21 March 2010.
"Cyber Community Award Scheme" and " Youth Development Award Scheme" are to recognize the achievement of a person who continuously pursues of enhancing his/her ICT skill and "DCCA Affiliated Centre Award Presentation" to promote the needs of society.
Mr. Gregory SO Kam-leung, JP, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR to be the honor guest. During the ceremony, the representatives of Hong Kong Cyperport Management Company Limited, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Internet Professional Association as well as the Granda Fortune, blogger and DCC Ambassador, to share digitial inclusion. The mobile truck of DCCA will be opened to the media.

2. When you get off the car at "Bus & Transport Interchange", please walk in "The Arcade". In "The Arcade", please walk to the central of "The Arcade" and you will find the "Ocean View Court".

District Cyber Centre Alliance
Sponsored by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, HKSAR, Hong Kong Cyperport Management Company Limited, Internet Professional Association (iProA) and the Information Technology Business Committee, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service have established "District Cyber Centre Alliance" (DCCA) since 2009. DCCA aims to promote digital inclusion in Hong Kong for building a justice and caring information society. Up to now, there are 33 district cyber centres throughout Hong Kong. Cyber Community Award Scheme
Cyber Community Award Scheme (CCAS) is one of six service areas of DCCA and aims to promote and recognize the achievement of a person who continuously pursues of enhancing his/her ICT skill. Under the CCAS, the allied social services units provide the community trainings of ICT skill, run the CCAS and encourage the learners to teach ICT skill to others. The learners are awarded certificates after passing the examination, and medals according to the accumulated marks they scored in each category. They are 4 categories of medals including learning of ICT skill, skill enhancment, community service and ICT skill application. Website: http://awards.dcca.hk (in Chinese).
